Frosty the Snowman

has 5 lovely friends and a dog! Today all of the kids went outside to make a snowman. We had to give Tug, the dog, credit because he jumped on some of the snowballs and broke them. We all are excited for the Holidays and the snow that comes with it.

Alan is an amazing wrestler

Alan started wrestling and just ended. There were 5 meets but he didn't start until the last three. He got 4th at districts. The team over all won districts for the third time in a row. This is a picture taken at his last meet in West J.

Sunday Dinner

Today Landon and Lauren came over for dinner, along with Avery, Aunt Kathryn, Uncle Jerry, Shelby, and Ethan. Landon had broken his arm and so he was trying to hold Tug, our dog, but he was dropping it, so he just decided to run around and let it chase him. Lauren was also having fun catching the wild kittens, picking flowers, looking at the chickens, and seeing the pigions fly over her head. She was tending them so she could not come in. Landon and Lauren even took one kitten out of the garage and said that it was going to the bathroom so it would be back in a second. It was so much fun seeing them again and to play with them.
Mom gave Aunt Kathryn a coupon lesson today, Uncle Jerry is excited for her to start. If only Dad were that excited to have mom coupon.

The Play

Saturday night Marianne, me, Dave, and Rachel went to 7 brides for 7 brothers. Uncle Rod was Ephraim and he did great. He did a cartwheel. Afterwards we went to Lazy D's and got fries with COUPONS. If you bought a hamburger you got a fry free and Dave though it was an amazing deal so we had about 5 orders of fries between pretty much the whole Schiess family. It was so much fun and I am glad we got to spend time with Dave's family.

Fishing in Alaska

Rebecca and Dad went on the ultimate daddy-daughter date this week~ fishing in Alaska. They had a ton of fun fishing, hiking, and relaxing.

The ultimate highlight of the trip happened Friday at around 5:00. They had caught lots of Salmon and decided to try fishing for halibut. Halibut are bottom feeding fish and usually you don't catch big ones unless you are in a bigger chartered boat. They were just in a little skiff which is not a very big boat. Well my dad rigged up a halibut pole with salmon line and they waited.

Then they got a bite. They went to work to get the fish into the boat, and then my dad realized they had a problem. As they were reeling it felt like they were pulling up a big wet mattress. My dad worked at it for a while and then gave Bec the pole so he could figure out what they were going to do. So Bec held this enormous fish while my dad sat to think. He was worried about it breaking Bec's legs after they got it in the boat, so they decided to let it die before they tried to pull it in. They finally got a second hook in the fish and then they pulled it up and cut its gills so it would bleed to death. Finally after over an hour of working they got the fish into the boat. When they got back to the lodge one of the deck hands saw what they had caught and couldn't believe it. He called everyone over to see what they had caught. They weighed the fish and it was 106 pounds. The record for the biggest halibut caught out of a skiff before that was 58 pounds. They got their pictures taken and their name went on the record board. No one could believe that Dad and Bec really caught that fish. Dad of course had a great time, and he said Bec was just grinning from ear to ear. We are glad they had fun, but also glad to have them home again.

This is the boat that they caught and landed the halibut in

The Big Bad Alan

Alan is playing grid kid football and is doing great. They have played two games. Alan has been playing defense and has made lots of tackles and caused a fumble. It has been fun to watch him play.

Abby

Abby started the 3rd grade today. Last night she had a make-over so she was ready.

Her teacher is Mrs. Johnson and she is excited to have her as a teacher. Today they played a game, did a word search, and did a clock sheet. Sounds like a pretty exciting day!

Another exciting thing that happened was Abby lost a tooth. She pulled it out all by herself.
